About Us

We’re so happy you found us!

Are you looking to connect with a Jewish community? Are you seeking a Jewish education for your family, or to deepen your commitment to Jewish living? Maybe you are exploring what Judaism is all about and how it might fit into your life.

Gates is a place for you to call home.

We’re a Reform Synagogue in Schenectady, NY, founded in 1854. The spiritual home of 377 member families, made up of individuals from all corners of the Capital District, with the largest Jewish Religious School in the area. We’re a caring family united in prayer, education, social activities, and social action. We encourage you to engage with Judaism on your own level, on your own terms. Gates welcomes members of all backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles. Our members consist of Jews by birth, Jews by choice, interfaith families, young adults, older adults, singles, and members of the LBGT community.

Our Gates are open to all.  Give us a call; we’d love to meet you!
