Gates of Heaven Temple Youth (GOHTY) group is open to students in grades 9-12. We are affiliated with the North American Federation of Temple Youth-Northeastern Region (NFTY), the youth movement of the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ).
GOHTY strives to make the teachings of Judaism a functioning part of the social outlook of all its members as well as to promote an understanding and practice of the values and traditions of Judaism.
GOHTY’s main goal is to provide a venue for Jewish youth to meet, develop friendships, and learn in a Jewish setting. Our programming includes social, cultural, educational, and religious activities on a local, community, and regional level. GOHTY sponsors many exciting activities, highlighted by our annual Winter Youth Retreat at URJ Eisner Camp, a full weekend of creative programming, learning and fun.
It is hard to convey how much ruach (Hebrew for spirit) all of GOHTY’s members have in regards to our NFTY affiliation and local organization on paper. We are grateful and blessed to have a community in which no members are excluded and welcomed with open arms.
GOHTY is entirely run by a board of teens under our Youth Director’s guidance. GOHTY strives to reach out to all teens in our congregation and the surrounding area. Our members and director are an enthusiastic, caring, and diverse group.
